Ball Valves

When reliability counts, our ball valves are the right choice. Precision-engineered, durable, and maintenance-free, they ensure reliable performance in continuous industrial operation. Whether manual, automated, or custom-configured, we offer the ideal solution for safe, trouble-free processes. Swissfluid ball valves come in versions tailored to diverse requirements: the SBV is the standard model suitable for most applications; the SBV Class 300 is designed for higher operating pressures; and the SBW Wafer stands out for its exceptionally compact, lightweight design, enabling space-saving integration into piping systems.

FAQ

What distinguishes Swissfluid ball valves?

Swissfluid ball valves have been developed for demanding applications in the process industry. They stand out due to their robust construction, high corrosion resistance, and reliable sealing. Thanks to a variety of materials and linings, they can be optimally adapted to specific process requirements.

For which applications are Swissfluid ball valves suitable?

The ball valves are suitable for use with corrosive and abrasive media, as well as liquid and gaseous process media. Typical application areas include the chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and paper industries, along with other sectors where safety, durability, and reliability are paramount.

What advantages does Swissfluid's metal-to-metal design offer?

The valve body halves of Swissfluid valves feature a metal-to-metal design, ensuring a consistently defined preload across the assembly. This robust connection guarantees high stability and reliability, particularly under fluctuating temperatures and demanding operating conditions.

The metal-to-metal connection of the body halves creates a durable structure with high mechanical resistance. At the same time, it ensures a secure electrical connection for the valve—a crucial requirement for grounding, especially in ATEX applications.

The maintenance-free design supports a long service life and reliable operation throughout the entire application range.

When is a lined ball valve used?

Lined ball valves are primarily used for corrosive and aggressive media where standard materials—or even high-alloy metals—reach their limits. The lining, made of PTFE, PFA, or other fluoropolymers, reliably protects the valve against chemical attack.

Typical applications include:

  • Acids and alkalis
  • Chlorine and chemical processes
  • Solvents
  • Pharmaceutical and fine chemical plants
  • Water treatment and environmental technology

Key advantages include high chemical resistance, minimal product adhesion, and a cost-effective alternative to valves made from expensive special materials such as Hastelloy or titanium.

Why should I choose a lined ball valve instead of a high-alloy ball valve?

Lined ball valves offer advantages over high-alloy ball valves, particularly when handling aggressive chemicals. Thanks to their PTFE or PFA lining, they are resistant to a wide range of acids, alkalis, and solvents and are often more cost-effective than valves made from special materials such as Hastelloy, titanium, or Super Duplex.

Typical advantages include:

  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Cost-effective solution for corrosive media
  • Minimal product adhesion and easy cleaning
  • Versatility across a wide range of chemicals

High-alloy ball valves, on the other hand, are the better choice when dealing with high temperatures, high pressures, abrasive media, or extreme mechanical loads.

Can the ball valves be automated?

Yes. Swissfluid ball valves can be operated via a pneumatic rotary actuator or electrically. The integrated ISO 5211 mounting flange ensures easy direct mounting of 90° rotary actuators.

Which materials and linings are available?

Depending on the application, the ball valves are available in various body materials (stainless steel, WCB, cast steel) and with different linings. Lining options include PFA, PFA-AS, PVDF, ETFE, PTFE-T, PTFE-T-AS, PTFE-AS, and UHMWPE, among others. This allows the valves to be optimally matched to the chemical, thermal, and mechanical requirements of the specific process.
